We may be one vital step closer to efficient and affordable solar power options for homes and businesses. Researchers have been working on printable solar for several years now, and if the test sites are successful, it could be coming to a home near you very soon.
Researchers at the University of Newcastle in Australia have rolled out testing of their project that consists of specially created “ink”, capable of conducting electricity, printed on very thin yet super strong plastic sheeting. It is so tough, the sheet can be rolled up and easily transported to any site where they can be installed on any flat surface. Early testing shows these panels work well in low light conditions, such as a cloudy day, and even produce a small amount of electricity from moon light.
