There Is a Science to Seeing Ghosts

Science cannot explain the existence of ghosts. But there is a scientific explanation as to why people sense a supernatural presence. Most experts say that people may be hallucinating the entire event. Others experience sleep paralysis. Neuroscientists say that REM (rapid eye movement) sleep. During this stage of sleep, only the eyes move. The rest of the body cannot. Experts believe that paralysis prevents people from acting out their dreams.

A possible explanation is that people are always reliant on their senses to give accurate information. The only explanation left if they could not believe what they see is that it must be a ghost. The brain tries its best to process messy information. This is bottom-up processing (pareidolia). It tries to give meaning to something without meaning. The brain can also perform top-down processing. This is when the brain takes in the most important things to process. These are what your brain does to cope with various stimuli.
