The Plastic Choking the Seas

Plastic pollution has remained a dire concern among environmentalists as it continues to infest the surfaces of the ocean. At the current rate of pollution, plastics may soon outweigh the amount of marine life in the ocean.

Deep sea divers in California have discovered that plastic pollution exist beneath the surfaces of the sea, with traces of litter known as microplastics have been found in varying depths.

With the use of remotely operated vehicles, scientists have conducted extensive research on through the sampling of microplastics. Closer examination of the collected microplastics have established consumer disposable bottles and packaging as a major bulk in the pollution.

New studies may revolutionize trash collection efforts at sea and form better strategies in the conservation of marine life.
