Scientists believe the earliest galaxies were formed because of dark matter’s gravitational pull. Directly studying this theory has been impossible. Now, astrophysicists show that helium and hydrogen bounced at high speeds off slow-moving and dense clusters of cold dark matter after the Big Bang. The stars formed at the same time when the gas fell back.
