CAN SCIENCE-BASED VIDEO GAMES HELP AUTISTIC KIDS?

The RAD (Research on Autism and Development) Lab of the University of California in San Diego, has come up with video games that could help children with autism.

They found that autistic boys seem to be more drawn to technology. They play more video games than normal boys do. That is why they had the idea of using this technology to help autism. They want to use that huge interest in video games that would help with their condition.

Tests show that the video games could improve the gaze control, balance, and attention of autistic kids. Parents of autistic children usually find similar technologies that are usually poorly made or developed. They are constantly searching for ways to help their children, so these video games would make a difference. The games being developed by RAD Laboratories would use eye-tracking technology (with eye-tracking glasses) to connect to its players and their physiologies. The game modifies based on the player’s performance.
