The Mysterious Skeleton Lake of India
| |Roopkund Lake in the Indian part of the Himalayas is also widely known as Skeleton lake. The cistern is situated close to a sacred place of worship where Hindu devotees would make their pilgrimage. Scientists have uncovered huge collections of remains within the depths of the lake and its surrounding coasts.
The DNA of the bones were studied along with carbon-dating analysis and are believed to have belonged to individuals of Mediterranean European origin, who are over 200 years old.
Trekking from Greece or places of Mediterranean origins would have been grueling, and researchers are still figuring out the cause of their presence. The remains have been mixed with the older bones of South Asian origins, which deepens the mystery of the lake.
