Microsoft Now Offering Custom Xbox One Controllers for Gamers
| |
If there’s something that consoles have always lacked when compared to PCs, it’s the ability to customize the hardware and experience. Sure, gamers have always had the opportunity to buy third party controllers and even vinyl skins to change the look of a console, but it’s not quite on the same level of massive customization that is available for PCs and their peripherals. Microsoft, recognizing the available market for high quality custom console accessories, has recently unveiled the Xbox Design Lab, a site that caters to gamers with unique custom builds of the official Xbox One controller.
There’s a definite advantage in buying an official custom controller when compared to the third party alternatives that are out there. For starters, all aspects of the controller can be customized, with different combinations of 15 colors on the buttons, triggers, faceplate, analogue sticks, dpad, and the entire body. Because the controller is an official Microsoft product, there is the advantage of additional grip on the triggers, long lasting rumble motors, and the overall high quality that the Xbox products are known for. Perhaps most importantly, the controllers from Xbox Design Lab use colorized plastic, rather than painted parts, which means that the custom color scheme will never chip or fade over time. This makes the investment much more worthwhile, even when compared to the cheaper third party alternatives.
